Solution overview (services, products, systems, architectures...):Westin National Harbor Hotel uses Square D® brand S-FlexTM enclosed variable speed drives for pump and fan applications used in heating, ventilation and air conditioning communicating with a building automation system.
Applications include:•Control of water pumps circulating hot water from the boilers to the air handling units used in heating and for hot water booster pumps to guest rooms for hot showers•Control of water pumps circulating water from the chillers to the cooling towers •Control of cooling tower fans to cool the water inside the cooling towers ![]() How did we estimate the energy savings (methodology, tools, ...)![]() By using variable speed drives to reduce cooling tower fan speeds and water pump speeds, Westin National Harbor Hotel saves on energy costs. A 10% reduction in motor speed for centrifugal fan and pumps yields a 27% savings in electricity III.
