Schneider Electric was awarded the “Eco-Product for Sustainable Development“ Jury Prize for its new M340 automation platform, awarded by the French Ministry for Ecology, Energy, Sustainable Development and Regional Policy in the frame of the “Enterprises and Environment” Prizes. |
These Prizes, which are awarded at Pollutec, the world reference for environmental exhibitions, give recognition to enterprises that undertake exemplary approaches for
controlling and reducing the environmental impact of their business and/or products and services. On 2 December 2008, Nathalie Kosciusko-Morizet, French Secretary of State for Ecology, awarded the Jury Prize for the category “Eco-Product for Sustainable Development“ to Schneider Electric for its new M340 automation platform.
The M340 automation range, developed by the Schneider Electric Automation and Control Department, is characterized by 5 key points:
- A 25% reduction of energy consumption
- A recyclability rate of 80% (compared to 60% for the previous range)
- A 70% reduction of the weight of the product and its packaging
- Compliance with the RoHS directive
- The “Green Product” label for the Chinese market
“This Award is the recognition of the major investment Schneider Electric has made in the eco-design approach. By placing significant emphasis on the quality of information made available to customers and their informative content, we demonstrate that industry can make the most of their environmental commitments, regardless of their business, explains Gilles Vermot-Desroches, Director of Sustainable Development and the Schneider Electric Foundation. Schneider Electric aims to intensify this approach so that by 2011 the majority of its business is based on environmentally-friendly products, as established by criteria that are shared and recognized by the industrial world.”
